About

This is mainly a personal blog. And when I say personal, I really mean personal. It is not my intention to try and put a limit on the kind of things I publish here, since I have a lot of interests, but you’ll find some pattern on me talking about my work. That’s the main reason of this site, but not the only one, so you may see a lot of posts on the subject of my WordPress-related projects, web, and programming in general, but also some others about music and life and how to live it. And that’s because I can’t really see or make a separation between my work and the rest of my life (is that ever possible?). So I’ll try to keep some order in the unavoidable mess this will become, looking forward for you to keep visiting and find something useful here 🙂

About me

I was born in 1985 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have a bachelor degree in Humanities & Social Sciences, currently studying Philosophy in UBA (Universidad de Buenos Aires), and since 2003 I work in web-based development and consulting, both for sites and applications. I begun working as a designer, and went leaning towards programming with the passage of time. In all this time I worked on web design, application design, markup, programming, SEO, UX, digital marketing, coaching, content management, translation for both English and Spanish, ghostwriting, and server and database administration.

I had a job between 2003 and 2008 on hardware and software support at a local store, alongside my freelance web projects. I hated it, but boy, I sure learned a couple of things about computers there!

During 2008-2009 I got my first big gig working for the UTN (Universidad Tecnológica Nacional) as a software engineer, creating and mantaining applications for class and resource management based in CakePHP. That’s when I begun to dig into WordPress.

I worked as a full-time freelancer for the 2009-2010 period. Then I was contracted by Aufiero Informática, an important software provider for all Latin America, and a great client from my freelancing period. There I mainly did programming and publishing with WordPress, as a lead programmer and content manager of the Development Department. Since Aufiero is the Official Distributor of AVG‘s software in our area, I also worked as a reviewer for the AVG International’s Localization Department, working on contents for all Spanish speaking countries. I left the company in 2014, but I still do some consulting and localization tasks for them.

In 2014 I joined NiceThemes, and I’m currently working there as a theme and plugin developer.

Both at the office and at home, I spend my time creating plugins and themes for WordPress, and contribuiting to other people’s software.

During the rest of my free time, I enjoy playing and recording music, managing ForoFyL (an independent forum for the students of the UBA’s Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, built with phpBB), and trying to write in a language that I don’t really think I nailed (I’m sure you realized by now that I’m not a native English speaker). I’m always open to beer and coffee invitations, though I prefer going out with small groups, specially with just my girlfriend (in fact, two people make a pretty small group). I’m not really much of a sports-kind-of-guy (I’m more on the lazy side, I think), but I enjoy to play a football match when invited too.

Currently, I’m living in a very central and noisy part of Buenos Aires, and I consciously do not own a TV, so don’t ask me if a saw that new commercial or talk show, because unless it was on the Internet, I didn’t. But I do have a female cat named Luz (tough I’m not a cat person neither), whom I addopted as an adult cat, and I never stopped to be amazed at how she can sleep at almost a full time basis.

About My Projects

In all these years I worked on a large number of websites and applications. Some of them are not online anymore, but in the following categories you can find a summary of all that can be seen around the internet at the moment.

About the language of this blog

You may have realize by now that, since the majority of the elements of this site (posts, pages, navigation areas, etc.) are written in English, some of the contents are plain Spanish. That’s my mother language, and regardless the public I’m pointing to with this blog are English speakers or bilingual people who just happen to read English, some of my posts are and will be related to Spanish in some sort of inseparable way, often because some cultural reasons that would not make my whole point if they were not written in Spanish. I’m not gonna offer translations unless it is really necessary, because I believe that translations, most of the time, are not always accurate to present the original meaning of what one has to say, and that sense of intimacy that you get with your readers in the original language becomes lost in translations. Also, I would like to contribute to some cultural trade-off in the WordPress community between English and Spanish developers, because I think that we all have a lot to learn from each other.
